The “Kunststoff-Institut Luedenscheid” cluster is a well-functioning, steadily growing network focused on sustainability and funded exclusively by industry. It brings together companies and research institutions from various sectors who work together on forward-looking research projects and practical training programs. The focus is on surface and decoration processes for plastic parts, the modification of tool and component surfaces using modern coating technologies, and analysis and testing technology for plastics.

 

Back in 2005, the network Traegergesellschaft Kunststoff-Institut e.V. and its partners in the field of surface technology and plastics were included in the “Kompetenznetze Deutschland” program, which today runs under the name “gocluster.” Since 2013, the institute has held the Gold Label for Cluster Management Excellence, which has been recertified several times. We are also a member of Kunststoffland NRW and a stakeholder in NRW.Europa.

It provides support in the selection, development, optimization, and implementation of products, tools, and processes in the entire field of plastics technology and comprehensively processes the technologies in services, joint projects, and research and development. It is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001, and the laboratory is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. It also offers target group-oriented training and further education.
